Are chiropractic adjustments safe?

I see many people post on here and say chiropractic is dangerous. I see people report that it is the number one cause of stroke under 35 years of age. I refute this with the information below...

Scott Haldeman, MD, DC reviewed malpractice claims records for a 10-year period between 1988 and 1997. In reviewing the outcomes following the application of 134.5 million cervical manipulations (commonly referred to as the chiropractic adjustment), the records indicated that there were 23 reported cases of stroke or vertebral artery dissection (VAD). [10] Of this group, 10 of the patients had the complicating factors of high blood pressure, use of oral contraceptives, or a history of smoking, all of which are associated with vascular disease. The actual incidence of stroke or VAD following cervical manipulation was found to be one per 5.85 million cervical adjustments. That means that the average chiropractor could work for 1430 years (or practice 48 full chiropractic careers!) before they might be involved with this type of litigation.

Sounds safe to me.

Please tell me where there is data to show that chiropractic is dangerous? I do not want to see anecdotal reports of a patient reports the the ER 3,7 or15 days after seeing the chiropractor with CVA. I want to see hard stats that show that people under the age of 35 with CVA with a direct correlation to cervical manipulation.

Thanks
Edit Rhianna- Once again you prove how unable you are to comprehend. The question did not ask about effectiveness. Does it? I asked for facts, studies or stats to PROVE it is not safe. Yet you fail to provide me one iota of evidence. You spout your hateful tongue over and over. You did not answer the question, but rather you manage to slip in your own agenda. Show me evidence that it is not effective. Show me how it does not help in cases of cervical dysfunction like torticollis, headaches, neck pain, brachial neuralgia or cervical radiculitis. Not only have I seen this first hand clinically, there is data in the literature.
No. that is where you are incorrect. I am not a researcher. I am a clinician. Medical clinicians are not researchers. They are taught to diagnose and treat conditions. The research is done by pharma and medical groups and researchers. No where does a Medical practitioner have to prove themselves. It is done for them. So it is in chiropractic practice.
Edit Dr. Lighty- thanks for the info. Loved the idea of a smear campaign against hair dressers!
