Physicians go to school for 10-16 years, work crazy hours, and have to undergo a rigorous academic preparation to get to be where they are at. Then, they still have to pay overhead, malpractice insurance (and no tort reform!), and all sorts of other costs.
And most physicians, excluding primary care docs, earn greater than $ 250,000 per year in gross income.
And you have the nerve to claim that they haven't done enough work and need to be taxed even more? That's insulting.
They're CERTAINLY entitled to every last dollar.

They do not go to school 10-16 years unless you are including from grammar school on. I have worked in the medical field most of my life, and let me tell you, they rip you off every time you have to go to one. My doctor spends about 15 minutes with me when I have a physical and the nurse does the rest.

You are neglecting facts: the top 5 causes of death every single year in the U. S. of A. are doctors, nurses, pharmacists making mistakes, being neglectful, and other wise doing stupid things no reasonable, logical person would do.
Since you wrote the above question, it is impossible for you to not have heard of a person going in for, say, gall bladder surgery and coming out of anesthesia with an amputated leg! Or doctors doing surgery and leaving some instrument inside the person.
It is because of this that they face malpractice: honestly, if they cause a death due to neglect or obvious stupidity, they should be sentenced to death.
