Question about medical negligence?

Im 26 yo and suffered an ischemic stroke 6 months ago. I was admitted to the ER and believe that I was not given the appropriate treatment. I ended up having 2 clots in my head and was not given TPA which was a clot buster. TPA dissolves the clots in your head and minimizes the residual effects of a stroke. TPA is part of the stroke protocol and has proven to help patients but I did not receive it. I have lost a lot of my vision after this incident. All of my peripherals are gone and so is my vision above my eyes. I need some legal advice. I do believe that if TPA was given a lot of my vision would have been spared. Thanks for your time.
Hi again I just wanted to add some further details. The moment I passed out I was immediately taken to the hospital. I was out for a little over 30 minutes. I was perfectly fine before I passed out. I was in Vegas when this happened and was in a middle of a blackjack hand and all of a sudden I had a headache in the back of my head and immediately passed out. I was then immediately taken to the ER via ambulance. So I know that the ER had more than enough time to administer the TPA. But tyvm for all your answers.

One question...how long was it between the start of your symptoms and when you entered the ER?

EDIT: Well, from what you've told me, I'd say you have a case! Talk to a lawyer and see if he agrees. The first interview is, after all, free. But pick your man carefully.

sorry to hear about your stroke. tpa is only given within three or four hours after symptom onset. if you showed up to the ER four hours or later after onset of symptoms, then you wouldnt have gotten tpa as it would not have helped.

EDIT: its hard to know how tpa (or any therapy really) will affect the outcome of a stroke. we dont really know the extent of the damage the stroke does until days after the event. families often wonder why their loved one 'gets worse' once admitted and treated for a stroke. thats just because of the nature of the thing. the damage takes a while to settle in and show us what the outcome will be.

best wishes.

Hospital people often speak of the golden hour. That is the hour after your stroke. During this time, medications are not, normally, given at all. I don't understand why, really.
