I mean, we always end up with someone finding a news' article (always from Canada or Britain) about a medical mishap in either country as proof that "socialized medicine" doesn't work. So, here's what I wonder: doesn't the abundance of horror stories coming from our nation about botched surgeries, preventable deaths in hospitals, denials by insurance companies PROVE that we are not the best. I mean, if you can cite an article about an act of negligence in a British hospital to prove that public health care all across the world is a disaster, surely one article about a mishap in America would prove that our system is a complete and utter failure, right? Funny, Australia has both private and public healthcare, yet I never hear of Aussies coming to America in droves to get treatment and they enjoy one of the highest standards of living on this Earth and they are avowedly capitalist, just like the United States.
Ordinary, middle-class Australians and Japanese are coming to America for treatment? Please tell me how many. I would love to know.
Excuse me, but your assumption that I want to abolish private healthcare is absurd. The countries I have pointed to have both public and private health insurance/care and the overwhelming majority of the populations there are satisfied with having TWO options, not just one as we have. As for the post office, how many people rely on email nowadays as opposed to the post office? Also, when was the last time a letter I sent didn't get there in a short period of time? Not any time that I can recall, so these post office horror stories sound a bit shrill. So, let me get this straight, looking at two of the world's most avowedly capitalistic societies (Japan and Australia) and seeing how they handle healthcare is an automatic indicator of someone who wants to resurrect the Soviet Union? Gee, will Canberra be setting up their system of Glasnost soon?

The GOP has an endless supply of anecdotes that support their perspective.

Funny, I hear of these people coming to America for medical treatments all the time. Are you sure it's not YOU who is misinformed?
Since you like "real" information so much, let's look at some socialized systems in the U.S. and see how they're doing.
The post office: BANKRUPT
The libraries: BANKRUPT
Medicare: BANKRUPT
How many times do libs need to see this to catch on to the fact that it DOESN'T WORK?!!! The capitalist approach to medicine has been standing on its own for centuries. How long do your socialized programs last? Let's ask the USSR. Funny, I can't seem to find it on this map anymore.

A guy in Connecticut had the wrong side of his brain operated on, TWICE!!
Because of this...
Surgeons now have to mark in ink the side of your body they are going to work on by asking you which side they are doing surgery on when you are awake before the anesthetist takes over.

McKinsey and Co. report from 2008 found that an estimated 60,000 to 85,000 medical tourists were traveling to the United States for the purpose of receiving in-patient medical care; the same McKinsey study estimated that 750,000 American medical tourists traveled from the United States to other countries in 2007 (up from 500,000 in 2006).
Orignal From: Since anecdotal stories "prove" that foreign healthcare is rubbish, why not publish some US anecdotes?
