If so, can you tell me what happened? I have a friend of mine that had it done and almost lost her life because she ended up with Sepis {Infection In The Blood}, due to the negligence of the doctor! She now has to have at least 2 more surgeries due to jawbone loss, and has to have bone replaced. I was just wondering if anyone else had a bad experience with implants.

I had a good experience with a dental implant. It was a long process but well worth it.

Always got to a MaxFax, and have an expereinced dentist who works with the maxfax put the dental crowns on

Implants are very successful if placed by a qualified surgeon. Usually they are placed by a specialist like an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. It should not be painful and you should be able to resume normal actvity the same day.

Usually my patients go to the gym the same day.

Find an OMS in your area.

Why not go to www.dentalfearcentral.com and ask the question. There are hundreds, if not thousands of people there who post messages about their experiences at the dentist, their fears etc. More than likely you will get support from people who have had dental implants. Good luck.

Sounds like your friend had one of those rare mishaps. I have never heard anything bad from the new ones. It is such a great procedure and well worth it!
