I had some elective surgery in 2000 and it was not done right. The actual final results weren't visible for a few years. Also my anesthesiologist left my surgery to go eat breakfast in the hospital. My brother actually spoke to him and he looked very embarrassed that he was "caught". He said the nurse anesthesiologist had taken over for him. Is this legal? Is there anything I can do at this point?

I think the time limit varies state to state. I've heard 3 years is the limit, but check with a malpractice lawyer. As far as the nurse anethesiologist is concerned, they actually administer the bulk of anethesia these days and this was perfectly legal. A lot of times the anethesiologist just does a pre-op assessment and that's it. CRNAs are very specially trained to administer anethesia.
