I was injured badly while working a few months back. I had a Drill Bit shatter and go through my left eye ( OUCH!! I KNOW ) I was rushed to the ER, I was transfered to another ER that had a Retina Specialist that I needed to remove the foreign body from my eye. I arrived and was taken into surgery almost right away. I was heavily medicated and dont remember too much. The next thing I know I wake up at my house and it was the next morning. My girfriend showed me the papers that they released me with and I was supposed to "follow up" with the Retina doctor in the morning when I came to. He left the drill bit in my eye and didnt keep me in the hospital overnight. I arrived at his office and almost INSTANTLY I had the gut gut feeling that this guy was ONLY concerned with finding out how he would get paid... Comments were made when they did a few tests by the nurse like " I dont want to overcharge you, IF your insurance isnt going to pay for it" Common sense told me something was off. The Dr. met with me and told me how important this was that it come out ASAP, he advises surgery for tommorow morning...pending approval for this very expensive procedure from the workers comp insurance. Come to find out that he doesnt accept any workers comp insurance apparently because they dont pay out "enough" So in a nutshell I was shoved out the door with no referal to a doctor that could in fact help me or anything at all. I was told that he was sorry he couldnt help me but good luck. I STILL HAD A DRILL BIT IN MY EYE. The insurance company was working to find a doctor that could/would help me and accept workers comp insurance for payment for the $ 18,000 process. I ended up having to go to a county hospital that by law had to treat me. Crazy how the insurance system failed to work. because of this doctors initial treatment and then abandonment of me there were other complications and I am currently totally blind in the left eye and in a fair amount of pain daily. Thanks for the opinions!

Ohhh I'd sue the living tar out of that quack! Remember there is a statue of limitations from the DATE of discovery so I'd jump on it asap. That is also a workers comp incident therefore you are considered permanently disabled and they should be paying appropriately. NOT just for the doctor bills that were incurred.
