Absolutely they should be looking at tort reform. However, our Politicians are lobbied by these lawyer groups, hence I don't think we will be seeing it anytime soon. These lawyer groups are the very reason there is no tort reform in any of the new Government healthcare bills coming out.

Yes...there definitely needs to be a balance....frivolous lawsuits are ruining a lot of practices.

At the same time, when a doctor screws up someones life there has to be a remedy.

absolutely.....doctors have to practice defensive medicine...they have to practice as if every patient is a potential lawsuit...cover all of the bases......"did i do everything i could to find the cause and the correct diagnosis? what did i forget? " order one more obscure test on a maybe.....it's costly, but scary for them to not go the extra mile....i've been a nurse since 1972......so, i've seen years of it
