Back in October, in the midst of the MRSA epidemic. I went to the hospital due to an ENORMOUS abscess on my inner thigh. It as about as large as an orange and had to be surgically lanced, or drained, and then i had to go to a bunch of follow ups to have it packed and unpacked. It was very bad and has left quite a scar. When i was at the Emergency Room the doctor and the nurses both mentioned how they would be culturing the abscess to make sure it wasn't MRSA. (seems like this would be a standard during the MRSA epidemic) it was late at night when i went and it seems that even though they kept saying they were gonna culture it they never got around to it. And now 6 months later. I went to the doctor and had a new abscess cultured and i do have MRSA. I was wondering if i had a case. Especially for pain and suffering. I have had to live w/ MRSA for 6 months b/c a doctor forgot to follow through w/ their duties. It has NOT been a fun 6 months. Also who knows what MRSA has been doing in my system for 6 months. I'm terrified i'm going to become septic any moment now and die.
ANY THOUGHTS!?
I didn't think i had MRSA.
i didn't know what i had, i am not a doctor.
Doctors need to do their job.
Timid Women Rarely Make History
Probably not. Their attorneys would argue that if you thought you had MRSA,you should have kept asking for the test to be run,and if they refused you medical treatment, then you should go to another doctor as soon as you were able to. While in the meantime filing a complaint with the first doctor.
I'd still consult an attorney. Just to make sure.
as
First im sorry to hear about your situation.
Second i would be very angry if it were me in your situation because not only were you suffering with this for 6 months you may have been infecting others in your family etc... I am not an lawyer or anything but i feel like you the doctors should have examined all the options before releasing you. If they were talking about it and didnt do it thats on them how do you know they didnt change there mind your not a doctor what doctor would want their patient telling them how to do their job? I hear that MRSA is very painful and im sure that you have had a hard time with it so i think you would have a good chance o proving your case.
Also in Sept my daughter had a spider bite so we thought and now she has more spots and i took her back now they are saying mrsa when both the er doctor and her primary both treated her for a spider bite we have since changed doctors and the one that found it put her on bactrum which is the same med they gave her for the spider bite so can you even get ride of mrsa. I would love to know how this turns out for you ..
