I was rear ended by a girl doing about 40 mph while I was at a dead stop. She pushed me into the guy in front of me and my vehicle was damaged and considered un-drivable. The ambulance showed up and took my vitals but they said they didn't have the equipment to check the baby. they checked my blood pressure and it was high. They told me if I have issues to go to my Dr in the morning or if i feel pain go to the hospital. I was very shaken and in shock. my mother and 2 yr old daughter were in the car as well. Thank god they were ok, but I was worried about them. About 2 hours after the accident, ( when it was finally cleared up and we were allowed to go) I felt funny in my stomach so we went straight to the hospital. Turns out I was in early labor. The stopped my contractions with a medication. But now I keep having them sporadically but basically now its a waiting game, and if they go into 5 minute intervals then I will be admitted again.
I didn't have time to think clearly after the accident. But now thinking about it, Shouldn't the ambulance have taken me to the hospital no matter what because i was pregnant? I mean yes i wasn't bleeding and my water didn't break but you can't know whats going on with the baby with out equipment. I'm starting to think it was negligence on the EMT's part. What is the typical protocol when it comes to pregnant woman and car accidents?

No, there is no protocol that would require them to take you to the emergency room. They were not negligent as nothing on scene seemed to be out of the ordinary. Your blood pressure could have been high due to the fact you were just in an accident.

If you wanted to go to the hospital you should have requested it. If you did not start felling "funny" until 2 hours later there is nothing the hospital would have done anyway.
