Doctors org. created a monopoly on healthcare- pay their rates or do without even though our tax funds pay for research and development of the treatments they hold hostage.
Oil companies buy up technology that would make their product obselete and the AMA controls all competition- nurse practitioners, osteopathic doc's. chiropractors...
Why is the AMA allowed to control our nations access to treatments our tax dollars pay to develop?
I.e: One must pay $ 150 for a well visit before being seen for an illness that will cost another $ 80. to get a prescription that costs under $ 10.
A nurse practitioner is as qualified as what general MD's used to be (now renamed internal medical doc so they can charge more).
Also if a doc messes up, they still get paid until they actually kill many people.
Maybe malpractice wouldn't be so high, if they just did not get paid for messing up! (when a car repair is mis diagnosed and the problem is not fixed, you can get your money back and go else where. When a doc misdiagnosis a problem that doesn't fix the problem but doesn't cause a problem either, you do not get your money back and you must pay a new doc $ 150 for a well visit just in case you get sick in the future and you may not have in-net work doc's in the area!)

I would say that big pharmaceutical companies are more to blame... In the US there are no govt. controls on the cost of medicines... we control the price of food, oil, electrical power, and many many other things but when it comes to medicines that keep people alive we let the corporations that make them name their price... we are the only developed big economic power on earth to do so

You have a very warped perception of the way doctors treat patients. If you want to really have problems why don't we just cut the requirements to be a physician and let you shop for bargain care on any street corner
The government essentially controls how much doctors charge by lowering Medicare reimbursement which is then followed by insurance companies. Do you realize that more and more docs are not taking insurance of any kind because of the hassles involved

Yes. And I would say the same thing for the American Dental Association, the American Bar Association and the 50 plus state bars, etc.
Its all about legitimizing monopolies and controlling prices to keep them artificially inflated.
A good example is lawyers. Over 50 years ago (before there were so many "integrated" or compulsory bars, lawyers charged a reasonable fee which was not measured in hours or time, but measured in the amount of work that was done reduced to a reasonable fee.
Then the bars started to become compulsory and the hourly billing rate emerged.
So a lawyer starts up shop in an office building, the first thing the landlord does is figure the lawyer is making a lot of money and hikes the rent up for the asking. The lawyer increases his billables and time by wasting a lot of time doing meaningless things to cover his rent and to make a bigger profit for the next increase for law books or whatever.
You get the picture.
Now on to dentists. They have a huge expense up front. Setting up their office and operating oractories or whatever they call them. Its a lot of plumbing and expense for those chairs and lights.
Anyway, so they pay a fortune going in and the landlord rips them off because he figures they're going to be there forever because of the investment in setting up the chairs and plumbing and all. So they charge way more for crown, bridge, tooth pulling, fillings and the like.
Doctors have the same problem as the above too.
So to round this baby out for ya. Yes, its all predicated on abuses. And with medical associations, dental associations and bar associations in there plugging away, they can't help but get more and more regs and laws passed to restrict trade and make it more expensive for the consumer in the end.
And we, their ultimate "constituency", pay for it all just like the government bends us over and sticks it to us, so do these other organizations.
They don't have our best interests at heart, they have their own wallet at heart.
Good luck. The future pretty much looks bleak from here.

Only one thing needs to be said....The profits are in prolonged treatment NOT in cures!!!!!!
