I have a potential medical malpractice case. The statute of limitations runs out in about four months. I have a few attorneys in mind that might consider taking the case. But I'm not sure if it is considered a breach of ethics to give the medical records to several attorneys at the same time so that if the first one (or two) decline the case I have back-up. I'm thinking that attorneys incur some costs for research and records before deciding if they will take the case. What do you think?

You're fine. Present the case to as many attorneys, simulatenously, as you like. If you're worried about ethics, then simply TELL them all that you're so doing. You don't have to tell any of them who are the others, or how many others there are.
Hope that helps.

You can submit the paperwork to as many as will accept and choose the one you think will do the best work for you.~~
