A year ago I went to a new dentist and had my two bottom wisdom teeth pulled. The man was a jerk and I won't go into details but it was an awful experience so once I completed my after surgery checkup, I never went back. Today I went to an oral surgeon for TMJ and he took a mouth X-ray. Turns out one of the teeth that the other dentist claimed to have pulled is still there. I went back to the other dentist and requested my medical records, which state that two teeth were extracted but they claim not to have any record of the x-rays I had after the procedure. The best we can figure is that he cut into that side of my mouth and tried to extract the tooth but couldn't so he left it, not telling me and still charged for the extraction. Is there any recourse I can take in this situation?

uhm. thats terrible. you should sue.

whoo
Take the records to the current dentist for an opinion. Call the medical review board for dentists (the current one you have would have the contact information)

Call the state dental society and they will give you the information to file a grievance against the dentist. If he did what you said, he will be facing disciplinary action.
