Do women have a tendency to hold grudges?

Personally, I'll admit that I do hold grudges... but I wouldn't go *this* far...

"A nurse in the US killed a plastic surgery patient she had a 30-year grudge against because she stole her boyfriend when they were at school, prosecutors have said. Sandra Joyner's death after a mini-facelift had been attributed to medical error. But five years later, nurse anaesthetist Sally Hill has been charged with poisoning her with a powerful painkiller.

Authorities said witnesses remembered Ms Hill, 50, saying she believed Ms Joyner, 45, had stolen her boyfriend when the pair were students at Olympic high school in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Ms Joyner went to see Peter Tucker in 2001 for the operation. It was a success but as she lay in the recovery room she went into respiratory arrest and died several days later.

Detective Chuck Henson told a court last month he believed Ms Hill poisoned Ms Joyner and turned off an alarm that could have alerted other nurses to her condition.

A malpractice lawsuit against the plastic surgeon and Ms Hill filed by Ms Joyner's family was settled confidentially in 2003.

Ms Hill, who is in custody without bail on first-degree murder charges, denies the claims."

Benino, are you talking about Countess Elisabeth Bathory? She bathed in virgin village girls blood to look younger, not because she held grudges against these girls.

I don't know about Hitler, but Stalin sent my family to the gulags in Siberia during WWII. He didn't do because he held a grudge, he did it because he accused people of being traitors, collaborating with enemies, etc.

Adolf Hitler held grudges that lasted a very long time. So did Stalin. So did this lady. So did the princess of Hungary who bathed in the blood of her childhood bullies and enemies when she was 30.

I personally try not to hold grudges, but there are some people I just don't like. So I cease contact and don't associate with them.

I don't think it is a gender specific thing.

To answer your question: Yes. Yes they do.

Know It All
Of course.

While I'm more than willing to think of this as a gender-independent trait, the observation seems to make me want to change my mind.

Some women seem to hold grudges the longest and dearest to their heart. Most men can go punch a sand-bag or play a video game and/or hang out with friends with a case of beer and get over it. Some women seem to nurse grudges for even 40 years.

See link below for proof.

My memory isnt good enough to hold a grudge like that.

I wouldn't say I hold grudges but I am never cruel or nasty to people so when people are so to me I take it very personally and I remember that particular manifestation of their character. If they do not have a heartfelt, sincere apology, I just cut off contact with them as there is no point in having them in your life. It is about integrity and purity in your personal relationships. I don't like insensitive people who are somewhat feckless and reckless with the things they say and do and expect you to 'get over it' when they wittingly or unwittingly hurt you.

It is not just women. People from both genders and all races do it. :0)

Yes, they do. They tend to forgive but never forget.
Even worse is they seem to remember stuff that they can use to tease you with. Its probably been six months since I got drunk and some how ended up in a babydoll nighty and panties and she is still bringing it up and laughing at me!

Well, I can't speak for all women but I am terrible for holding grudges. I find it very hard to forgive and forget, if someone has really really (and I mean REALLY) pissed me off.

Absolutely not...! I love my mother, but if there was one thing I couldn't stand... She held a grudge! She'd be bitter angry to the one that honked her off and saccharine sweet to everyone else *gag*.

I couldn't even begin to imagine holding a grudge like Ms. Hill's... That's so wrong in soooooo many ways.
