I gave birth 6 weeks ago to my second son. During 4th week, I was still bleeding and had bad back & abdominal pain. I called the doctor again & had to go in to hospital for an emergency D&C b/c he said there was retained placenta pieces in me from the delivery! He said he was surprised at the size of the piece & that it was still "thriving"! This really made me angry, b/c to me, this is negligence on his part. Especially b/c I was given Cytotec to be dialated (and after much research, the doctors know that this can cause the placenta to break apart & remain attached to your uterus), and also, he had to manually use his hand to remove my placenta b/c it wouldn't come out - should he not have done a sonogram to be sure he got it all?? I had to undergo a D&C, in which I began hemoraging, had to have a balloon inserted in me for two days, undergo a blood transfusion & spent two days in hospital. 2 wks after d&C & 6 wks after delivery, still bleeding! Has anyone sued for similar events?
Katie
This definitely sounds like something to sue over, it's complete negligence.
Having another baby!
I'd say it's part of having a baby and probably something in some sort of consent form you signed. Does it suck? Heck yeah, but do I think it is something you should sue over? Sorry to say my answer is no.
