Ok I contracted leprosy when I was 19 and told mutliple specialists, emergency rooms, and doctors of all kinds that I had the disease and told them my symtoms which were atrophy at the wrists and ankles, lesions all over my body that took weeks to heal, redness of skin, total loss of sensation of touch, skin appeared shiney, hands and feet started to cripple, felt like I was being eaten away on the inside and outside of my body, my fingers and toes felt like they were going to fall off, parts of my hands are eaten away at the joints and under my eyes, it also caused pain, THEY SAID IT WAS ALL IN MY HEAD AND THAT IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO HAVE THE DISEASE BECAUSE IT WAS SO RARE IN THE U.S. , and turns out later I took the test for leprosy (self) and I tested POSITIVE and I'm angry because now I have permanent damage to my body and the doctors were wrong specifically after I told them I had the disease, not one did a test, Like is there anyway I can sue any of these doctors for medical malpractice for allowing this to happen to me? I mean really they have no excuse, I eventually used Dapsone (ordered online, used to treat leprosy) and Colloidal Silver (antibiotic that also treats leprosy) to cure the disease and guess what, I no longer have the disease, and magically I take the right medicine and all my symtoms are gone (over a period of time), now I'm left with permanent damage to my body, it never turned into the full leprosy I mean you can't really tell I had the disease unless I show you the parts that are damaged but still my hands dont function right, my spine doesnt feel in place anymore, and I'm very angry, plus I suffered the ultimate HELL with that disease, I had wished I would die everyday it felt so disgusting, painful, gross, and horrible. Please help, and what does anyone think...
here is the diagnosis at least some of it

skin lesion consistent with leprosy and with definite sensory loss, with or without thickened nerves

I have had all three, skin leisons, BRIGHT RED skin which is a sign of bacteria infection, definite sensory loss, and enlarged nerves (thickened), I am feeling the enlarged nerve under my right knee right now, and its still like that, please don't post stupid comments.
PS: It says if I have like 3 of some 4 symtoms on this one diagnosis test, it doesn't say they might have leprosy, it says the DO have leprosy. I have them all.
I didn't do a self test, I did the test the doctors do, they check for a enlarged nerve under your knee, they check four points at the bottom of your foot touching each corner with like a pen or the like and if the four points have significant differences in the sensations, that is another symtom, I also experienced many other symtoms for the disease, I probably know more about it than some doctors and its not a question of if I had it, I did have it, the skin test I did not do, but the redness of my skin proved it was a bacteria infection, have you seen pictures of people with leprosy? I havent lost part of my fingers but it looks the same, I researched this for a very long time, I also just want to know what I can do to actually make this kind of thing known about so this doesn't happen to anyone else, anyone know of specialists in Southern california that I could see that specialize in the disease?
PS: Colloidal silver is a antibiotic, and it did effectly treat the disease, believe it or not, I barely used the dapsone, mostly all of the silver, for about 6 months, and you should research it, its actually more efficient at killing bacteria than prescription antibiotics, been around along time, and its safe, can use it for a somewhat 70 - 80 years and still experience no problems from taking it, its not a lot of silver, its microscopic silver, and leprosy is caused by a micro bacteria.
Has anyone ever heard the saying better to be safe than sorry? well because of american's great doctors they decided to be sorry rather than safe, and did nothing, absolutely nothing.

Okay, so you have head leprosy.

The sensitivity and specificity of the self tests are not 100%, so there's a chance you did not have leprosy. If you did, the antibiotics easily cure the disease.

Most certainly, the colloidal silver had no contribution to the treatment, and you're lucky to not have experienced any side effects.

If you can prove a missed diagnosis, than you have the basis for a medical malpractice lawsuit and you should consult a lawyer.

I'm sorry to hear that.

So your doctor was misdiagnosed you, but I agree that leprosy is considered rare in U.S and more common in "third world country" unless there's an unknown endemic in U.S.

Leprosy is linked to prolong of the pathogen exposure and/or low immune system (commonly caused by poverty, low nutritional status, therefore low immune system). Even it's so rare that In 1999 only 108 leprosy cases reported in U.S. And only 92 cases reported in 2002 (no offense but you know what I mean by rare in U.S.). So your doctor could easily ruled out the leprosy because the rare.

Now I don't know what is your payment system (health insurance?) / how much it cost for you to take a leprosy test (expensive/cheap?). It might seem to be unhurt for doing "little leprosy test" at that time. But some people might see the payment would be a burden to them and furthermore if it was not your doctor's advice to take the test, their health insurance might won't cover up the price (again, I don't know how much to take the test / would the price be a big deal). But if money isn't your problem, you should stress more to your doctor at that time to give the test and tell them that money is not your problem. So your doctor had 2 factors, rare and possible payment burden. It might sounds unfair to you, but no offense, I tried to be fair.

Like is there anyway I can sue any of these doctors for medical malpractice for allowing this to happen to me? You can win, or you can lose (because the rare).

I hope the best for you.
