I have recently had problems within my left ear, it began around the beginning of december 09.
My left ear had bled and i felt deaf too, which gave me vertigo.
I began calling the GP surgery to no avail of an appointment for nearly two weeks.
Either the receptionists didnt answer the phone at all and id give up ringing after about an hour, or if i did get through id be turned away as the surgery was either "too busy" or "too full" to fit me in for an appointment.
On more than a few occasions the receptionists were just god damn rude to me, as if i was a second class citizen.
I had also walked into the surgery, about a week into trying to get the appointment, but i am also asthmatic and had needed an inhaler too, so i went into the surgery and was turned away, told to go bother the staff up at A&E, all for an ear infection and an inhaler????
Is it just me that thinks unless youve either got a knife hanging out of you, or a limb hanging off that you "go bother A&E staff"???
I thought it was pretty petty to be told to do that when a GP could help out in the space of 15 mins.
The next week i finally got an appointment (almost two weeks later) the doctor gave me ear drops to remove some wax, and told me to go back in a few days to check the problem with my ear.
IT took me more than a few days to get back in with an appoinment, actually just over a week.
The next GP i saw said i had quite a bad infection, and was likely to be deaf from that because there was no longer any wax in the canal, and i was still deaf in my left ear.
Now thinking about it, most severe ear infections do infact cause deafness if left untreated for so long, and i wanted to know (considering i can prove the prolonged infection caused deafness)
could i claim medical neglect on the receptionists part for not giving me an appointment within the 48 hour period the surgery prides themselves on (its on the website, and its bullshit) hence prolonging an infection, hence causing deafness because i was not seen by the GP when i shoudl of been. Also the complete attitude from the receptionist, she came out with comments such as
"what do you expect me to do about that?" after explaining i had blood in my ear and needed an inhaler!
I do think had i been seen straight away (looking back now) that the deafness could of been prevented with an earlier dose of anti-biotics, but instead i was left to suffer for 2 weeks with pressure all because the receptionists were fanny arsing around with sticks up their arses thinking theyre a cut above anyone else who needs help.
Can get some opinions, from anyone whos suffered like this (with their ears, battle with receptionists, or if your a receptionist or GP) do you think what happned to me is right?
What do you think i should do to correct this issue because i refuse to let this go especially if this could of been prevented.

A ruptured ear drum happens. Most of the time, the rupture heals on its own, but the infection still needs to be treated. While the eardrum is ruptured, you may have hearing issues. I've had a ruptured drum in the past. It's not fun, but it's a hell of a lot less painful than the few days leading up to the rupture when the ear and your whole face is throbbing in pain. It's normal for pus and blood to drain from the ear when the drum ruptures. I don't know why you'd need an inhaler for an ear infection, that doesn't make sense. You take the antibiotics for 10 days, go back for a follow-up appointment, and see if the infection has cleared. If it hasn't you go on another course of antibiotics.

I'm really sorry that you're dealing with such health problems. Please do talk with a lawyer that deals with medical negligence. Perhaps he or she can provide a free consulation. You may want to talk with a few different attorneys about your situation.
Regarding your health, how about going to an ear, nose and throat (ENT) doctor. Hoping that you get the right treatment as soon as possible.
