Republicans keep saying that the government will make health care worse any time it does something with health care.
Yet,the same people claim medical malpractice reform will fix health care if the government enacts it.
Can anyone explain how this works? I'm having trouble understanding how they can both be true.
♡
Because republicans are stupid.
thats all im gonna say :]
The Zeitgeist
That's a good one.
Indeed a paradox.

It's because their opposition to the public option is based on corporate lobbyists and political posturing, and not on solving the problem.
They don't want to solve the problem because they are afraid that Obama will get the credit he deserves...
When you do things for disingenuous reasons you end up creating hypocrites like this.
FOB-baby
it doesn't make sense to you because you have the first part wrong.
republicans do not 'keep saying that the government will make health care worse any time it does something with health care". Republicans are opposed to government run health care. That means they don't want the government assume control of every aspect of the health care system; it doesn't mean they don't believe the government can and should help aid in reform.
Rounder
it is widely accepted that one of the largest problems with the health care system is problems with the tort system. Nothing in any of the bills the democrats have produced addresses tort reform. So, the anything you are talking about is anything that has been included so far.

They just want a law that says if some idiot sues a doctor or insurance company for no reason, and they lose, they would have to pay court and lawyer fees, the government would not be involved in anything.
Do you know how many stupid law suits there are every year, and that it still costs millions each year to defend these stupid law suits. A law would help stop people suing.
Look at the group of trash that sued McDonald's because their kids are fat, now if a law said they would have to pay McDonald's legal fees, do you think the idiots would have bothered?
Pythagoras
Because you are comparing apples and oranges.
Government health care, particularly the public option, will add yet another burden to an already unsustainable federal budget. We are already $ 10 trillion in the hole.
Medical malpractice reform will not require a massive bureaucracy, particularly if it caps amounts that doctors can be sued for and forces a defendant to pick up the tab for frivolous cases.

republicans think that medicaid and medicare should be fixed before increasing it...understand now?
Massive Mann
The Irony is since Truman Presidents (Most of them, anyway) Wanted Universal health Care, but because there was never a Super Majority on either side, A 'CERTAIN FACTION" would either vote it down and out or filibuster it to oblivion. NOW that we are so close, and a SUper Majority is in place, FEAR is all that this "FACTION" has left...Unfortunately, it's starting to work again, and I would remind the AMerican People about the last time FEAR was used and was successful...BUSH 2004........

Put your thinking cap on ,the republicans want people to have choices ,and they want costs to come down. Democrats don't give a rats hat about anything but getting credit for another giant mess for the hard working and loyal opposition to clean up.
