Don't they usually sue the physician rather than an entire hospital?
American Medical Association website perhaps?

The individual healthcare practitioner(s) would be named as the defeendants in a medical malpractice liability suit. Research the physician's name on the state medical board website, and you can see any sanctions that may have been placed against his/her licensure as a result of negligence or personal misconduct. Not quite the same as medical malpractice, but it's public information and free. Note, however, that the vast majority of medical malpractice lawsuite are settle before they ever go to court, as it is cheaper and less risky than a possible jury award, so unless there is a repetitive history of malpractice complaints, a lawsuit or three against a physician is not uncommon at all.
