A claim was opened by a motor vehicle insurance company 5 years ago. Your daughter is underage (in Canada), and because of this, the insurance company has not been willing to close the claim. You go to a lawyer, who says that all past medical information will be an asset to the case. The lawyer tells you that they will phone the office and get the medical info themselves.
My question is: Would they receive only the medical information that is relevant to the injuries from the car collision, or would the doctors give them all the patient's/client's medical history?
Isn't the patient's medical history confidential? When is it not confidential? Can the doctor to keep some things confidential if they must forward all medical history?

All medical information is confidential but they can get it if they subpoena the doctor.
