My mother has been taking Oxaprozin for three years for back and leg pain. Just recently she said she experiences numbing on one side of the body and chest pain. I did some research and found that this medicine has been known to create heart attacks and strokes. I'm very worried....she stated that she has stopped taking the medication until she can get into the doctor. Now she says they want to run tests to make sure the medication hasn't caused harm to any of her organs......any Lawyers out there?? Do you think this is a cause for malpractice?
Here's a website with more details on the medication

This doesn't sound like malpractice.
While there are known side effects for this drug, the central question is whether your mother's physician was outside of accepted clinical practice guidelines in using this medication. Oxaprozin is a member of a class of drugs which are known as NSAIDs, and treatment with NSAIDs is a very standard approach for arthritis as well as other types of muscle and joint pain.
I'm sorry to hear that your mother may have had an adverse outcome, but adverse outcomes of themselves don't constitute malpractice. Unless there are other mitigating facts , you are unlikely to succeed with a malpractice suit.
