They (the sheriff's detectives) called it an "accident". I'm a working mom who didn't believe it from jump street. I was told to wait 6 weeks for tests to come back. I called in six weeks, met with detectives and they told me they had not sent off tests as the evidence had been compromised by a responder to the scene. They knew this when they told me to wait 6 weeks. I told the detectives that the other person present when this "accident" occur ed said they "didn't tell police the whole story" I asked about fingerprints and they told me "his fingerprints were on the weapon". I hired a private investigator. They tell the PI the weapon had NO fingerprints on it. They had never heard the "I didn't tell police the whole story" before. The medical examiner asks "have you ever worked for a bureaucracy? They have lied, compromised evidence and now the PI has come up with something that is a BIG problem for them.
This was NO accident. First someone will pay for the crime. Then the sheriff's dept is going to answer. I want to know where to look for legal precedent or advice. I've searched and searched. I find guidelines and protocol ... but I need to know what direction to head.
thanks
It would be remiss of me to give too much info. The question pretty much speaks for itself.

Sheriff is an elected position, so your recourse is political. Find someone to run against the Sheriff.

Contact your states attorney general office, they prosecute things of this nature.
Unfortunately, since they botched the evidence, it is unlikely that the perpetrator will be convicted unless there is also untampered evidence.

OK, let me try to help, I have no idea what your initial issue was, nor should it make a difference. If you feel that the sheriff's office is not performing correctly you have several options. You can contact the state police, your local District Attorney, your local media, and even you state and federal Representatives if need be. If you really think your local sheriff is "not doing his job" , and have some sort of proof, put that in writing and send it to someone. or put it in a safe deposit box prior to stirring the shi!. That way if he/she tries to retaliate you have something to fall back on!

No one here has any idea of what "accident" you are talking about, or what a weapon has to do with it, or what tests, or what a six week wait has to do with anything, or what sort of lies a medical examiner might have said. In short, your nonsensical ramblings might have meaning to you, but to everyone else it is just nonsense.

What do you think? Answer below!
