I am trying to find any laws or regulations for daycares regarding safety and securing large items such as bookcases and cubby systems to the walls. My 3-year-old son had a 4' tall 6' wide cubby system fall completely on his causing him to get staples on top of his head. It then took the school almost a month to attach the units to the walls. We moved our son but because of this and other concerns and now they want to charge us for not giving enough notice. I understand that this is part of our contract and I will pay my obligation but I want to deduct the out of pocket cost I had due to their negligence. I want to see if I have a leg to stand on here. I looked online and could not find much about childproofing/safety laws or regulations. Does anyone know where I can find them? Thank you.
