Not as long as it was one piece, gum is bad for them because of some chemical in it that starts with a "x" (I cannot remember the name). Make sure you keep your gum where he can't get it, once he was a taste for it he may eat a whole pack if it is left out and that would be bad for him

No your dog should be fine, my dog ate gum too, and she was fine.

No, that piece of gum won't hurt him. A dog's stomach is able to tolerate things a human's stomach could not. Your dog will be fine... I'm sure that piece of gum will come out just the same. Don't worry too much about it.
