I am not in medical school or considering it but I am just curious about something. If I am not mistaken it takes many years to become a licensed doctor. (around 8-12, I think). Anyway, I was wondering how a person apsiring to be a doctor would support themselves before they get the DR. title. Can you work in different areas of the medical field before you have the title of a doctor. I was just curious because 8 years of school is a long time.

Most med students do not work during med school (you just don't have the time). They support themselves almost entirely on loans.
During undergrad you could probably swing a full-time job. But, you won't save up nearly enough to put yourself through med school without any loans.

Most med students rack up to $ 100,000 in debt during their years in school. There is no time to work during med school, because you're always either in class or studying. You just have to save up before you get there.
