recently dekalb co. ga. implimented a law that states. if you are involved in an accident and are talking on the cell phone it will be a 500$ fine!! i personally think this should become a national law, just like dui has become. laws are unfortuantely implimented because people are too selfish or stupid to do the right thing. and since the ntsb recently completed a study that said cell phone use while driving is equally or more distracting than driving under the influence of alcohol. dont you all think its high time we got serious about making the roads safer?? it may be your child that you save from the negligence of idiots that just cant seem to hang up and drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree it should be taken further. I think cell phones shouldn't be used in a car at all. If someone is talking on their cell while talking, I wholly believe they should be ticketed. Its unsafe.

There are really no exceptions to drunk driving.
Sometimes, people just gotta be on the phone for an emergency, and can't really stop somewhere.
So I say, No.

There you go. Call your congressman.
Yeah right. What emergency? Wife forgot to pick up the milk? Moron. Can't find a spot to pull over? Then you shouldn't even be behind the wheel.
Madvillain
drinking and driving is safer then talking on your cell phone

I think that would be a good idea. In CT, you can get a ticket if caught talking on your cell phone without a hands-free device.

Good idea, except driving regulations are set by each of the fify states (our city or counties). The Dept. of Transportation could regulate this on highways, but the states must take the initiative. I'd push your legislators to pass a state law first.

some day they may make phones that do not ring when in motion! that would solve the problem. you'd have to pull over to answer them.
The roads are not safe for others reasons, too, like huge autos going way way too fast.

I think this should be enacted immediately. I'm tired of women drivers talking on their cell phones, and tailgating me. And that study said that not one person crashed while drunk in a simulator, but many crashed while talking on a cell phone.

I agree, unless the are using an ear piece, but even then, some people are just plain idiots...LOL
Orignal From: who else thinks there should be a national law???
