In August 2009, a High Court ruled that past negligence by Corby (Northants) Council had contributed to the damaging of children's health. Parents of those affected are now mounting a class-action legal case against the Council for compensation. I am concerned that despite the repeated assertions of clinical experts that Health Impact Assessment should henceforth be conducted as an implicit part of all UK infrastructure projects that have even the slightest chance of effecting human health, nothing been done to make this a statutory requirement?
