I ask because of research I was doing on another topic lead me to this site: http://www.islamqa.com/en/ref/43028/menstruation which claims "Scientific studies in this field have disclosed to us some of the harm that is referred to in this verse, but they have not managed to describe all the harms" but it neglected to tell what these supposes harms are.

Some theories are for endometriosis or Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. If you do have sex during your period, still use safe sex practices.
Blessed.
As far as I know there is no medical reason as to why you shouldn't do it. Orgasm is a natural way to help relieve cramps and headache which are commonly associated with PMS and period.

Some of the assertions in that link are, imo, goofy...and I don't have the time nor energy to try and debate them point by point.
Some women are actually more receptive to sex during their period. Some are totally turned off by the idea (blood, cramps, etc).
A healthy woman having a normal period shouldn't suffer any ill effects from having sex during menstruation.
