I had a car accident case that settled about 2 years ago. I was told by my lawyer that all medical related bills will be settled before a settlement check was given to me. I now have a medical bill for $ 15k that the lawyers forgot to include when preparing my settlement. I think this would be classified under lawyer malpractice since they overlooked a medical bill that i now owe because the settlement is over and can not go back to ask for a bigger settlement. I didnt even receive near $ 15k for my settlement and now they expect me to pay it for their negligence! I wanted to get anyones advice to see if suing my lawyer could be a viable option for me. Thanks
The medical bill was sent to me and the lawyer october of 2009 and as a precaution, i always sent a copy of all medical bills to the lawyer. The settlement was in march in 2010 so there was no way the bill came after the settlement and there was no way they couldnt have known about it.

You may notice that YOU approved the settlement. If you didn't think it was enough, you should have not accepted the offier.
You did not give enough information to allow a conclusion that the lawyer did anything wrong or that the error cost you a nickle.

Suing lawyers is extremely difficult...especially from what I'm reading in your post.
Because a medical bill took time to catch up doesn't mean the lawyer was negligent.
I would speak to a different attorney to get their opinion but I'm willing to bet you won't find one willing to take on your case!
The only other option that comes to mind is writing a letter to your state bar association.

Why don't you say when you received the bill? It seems relevant.

SO, you got the bill on 2009, and in 2010 you read, approved, and signed a settlement without doing the math????????
Don't waste your time (and more money.) You can't win based on your explanation.
