Here we go again, business is always the guilty party and should be punished.

Why do liberals refuse to place reasonable caps and limits on jury awards for personal injury lawsuits? Do liberals not understand that all the costs attributed to trial lawyers are passed onto the consumer? The cost of malpractice insurance, the cost to defend against frivolous law suits, the needless tests, procedures and operations patients are forced to endue because trial lawyers have become mercenaries, exponentially increasing the cost of health care.

Trial lawyers have contributed a fortune in campaign donations to Obama and other supporters of a litigious society, are liberals wrong to complain about the cost of health care while at the same time, liberals commission trial lawyers to attacks the health care industry?

What is wrong with reasonable caps and limits on jury awards?
Why do liberals fight to prevent tort reform?
How can anyone think we need more litigation?

How can anyone argue against limits on awards? Instead, I get bacl all these talking points from moveontosocialism.org

Liberals who oppose caps on jury awards- why??????

Proud Texan
Tort is not the problem bad doctors are the problem.

My guess would be that most ambulance chasers are liberal, but that is just a guess.

If I get drunk, hit a kid walking across the street and kill them I will be sued for everything I own.

If I drive too fast, hit a kid walking across the street and kill them I will be sued for everything I own.

If a doctor is in a hurry, drunk, too tired, etc and kills a kid then why shouldn't he face the same civil consequences?

America's Biggest Fraud
Because that would cap what lawyers got paid and lawyers are the biggest supporters of the Democratic Party.

I think if we're going to reform health care, making all persons covered either privately or by the government, then limits HAVE to be in place to limit these lawsutis because now we know that everyone (ideally) would be covered by insurance, thereby repairing all physical wounds.

I'm all for reasonable limits on burn/slip and fall/etc "injury damages"

PJ
You are the one saying "punish". Why is reform "punishment"?

I think frivilous lawsuits should be thrown out right away. But I also believe the AMA should bar bad doctors from practice. There is a lot of room for change in the entire system.

Because they have a very loving relationship with the Trial Lawyer Lobby...

I thought this was common knowledge.

Here we go again, cons railing for "tort reform" even though malpractice costs have fallen for 3 straight years.

You're living in the past. Get upset at the insurance companies that have kept raising doctors' rates while raking in obscene profits. They will not lower the rates until somebody smacks them down, no matter how much money they save. ∠°)

You are right, the only people making money in health care have nothing to do with health or care -- lawyers and insurance companies.

We need to cap court awards, who needs more than three million dollars -- ever? And that will drive down malpractice insurance rates.

Common sense.

Most polititians are lawyers.
