WASHINGTON – Most Americans want Congress to deal with malpractice lawsuits driving up the cost of medical care, says an Associated Press poll.

Yet Democrats are reluctant to press forward on an issue that would upset a valuable political constituency — trial lawyers — even if President Barack Obama says he's open to changes.

The AP poll found that 54 percent of Americans favor making it harder to sue doctors and hospitals for mistakes taking care of patients, while 32 percent are opposed. The rest are undecided or don't know.

Ridiculous. Unnecessary medical testing is unethical and medical malpractice. I refuse to reward doctors for engaging in medical malpractice.

What a bonehead move.

Not just Democrats, Politicians from most parties are like that

very few American Politicians with integrity these days.

(and making much harder to sue doctors would be an excellent idea.)

Why do Democrats support Lobbyist and not the people ?

Because most Democrats are liberals. Liberals have know faith in the people because liberals believe that most people are idiots that need to be treated like children except for themselves of course.

Because they have learned from Republicans who get three times as much money from lobbyists that Democrats do.

Who is really in support of the people. Our government is supposed to be for the people by the people. However corporate interests have permeated our congress manipulating them to make decisions that are not in favor for the people. This is not a Democrat issue or a Republican issue. It is a Congressional issue. Americans need to take back their government and stop putting the same corporate sympathizers back in office every single stinking term.

The outstanding thing here is to suggest that Republicans aren't bought by lobbyists as well.

All politicians are bought and paid for. Stop thinking it's a one-sided thing.

Only Ron Paul has never taken those sort of contributions.

Money, because Americas government follows the will of money and not the will of the People. Howevr some still love to think they will work for us, yeah right.

Edit:
Might I agree with the others here that it isn't just a democrat problem, but a problem with every politician. It's true that there are very few people like Ron Paul who don't surround themselves with lobbyists or go against the grain of the Constitution, but sadly not too many of the worthy people that could hold that office take the shot to do so.

I'm only 19 but plan to hold some office in the future, granted there's a free America left to run.
