What kinds of things will the claims people consider when evaluating a claim for negligence against a hospital?
The basics: I have a claim currently pending for negligence during a plasmapheresis treatment that resulted in 2 seizures and a 7 hr ER stay. It is unknown whether or not I will have any additional seizures if I was to ever have plasmapheresis again. The director of the apheresis unit agrees there are things that weren't done that should have been done.
The general damages are just under $ 9k.
What would you evaluate at? Where would you start your demand? What would you settle for?
Thanks for any input/recommendations

You really need to be talking with an attorney about this. They'll be able to help you much better than anyone on here can.

You need to consult a personal injury attorney -- any answer you get here will be a guess at best. Pretty much every personal injury lawyer in the world will meet with you for no money down, and in most cases they'll take your case for free and you won't pay them till you win. Looks to me like you have a case, so look up an attorney in your local yellow pages or call the Bar Association in your area. Good luck!
