I live by Aurora, IL which is a suburb of Chicago, IL

Is there a name for these types of lawyers?

Most plaintiff's lawyers only get paid if you get an award whether by settlement or jury verdict.

I would start by looking in the phone book under personal injury attorney's or medical malpractice attorney's or trial attorney's and look for some who say they handle medical malpractice cases. Then I would run a google search on them to see which ones have managed to win cases.

Those types of cases take alot of time, money and effort. Think of all the costs to get expert witnesses, etc. How is a lawyer to take that type of case and pay for all those expenses out of their own pockets. They have rent/mortgages to pay too! You wouldn't ask anybody else to work for free with no guarantee of getting paid for the time and effort. Unless you have some amazing case where they would make an enormous sum of money and where you have a great chance of winning, I wouldn't expect an attorney do work for free, especially not in this economy.

Legend in your own mind!
Try medical malpractice lawyers in Chicago on google. How stupid of a question is this? Tried that secret of secrets, the Yellow pages?

Are you kidding? Illinois is crowded with sleazebag lawyers. You can throw a stone without hitting one. That is why any decent doctor would not come in yourstate to practice. Good luck screwing with America.
BTW a lawyer that you can get like that will take 1/3 of the loot AND cost of litigations. So if you win 500,000.00, you will be lucky to take home 125,000.

Personal Injury/Malpractice lawyers always work on a contingency basis - that is, you only pay if you win.

Go to Yahoo! home page, click on Yellow Pages (at the bottom of the column where Answers is). Enter Aurora, IL. Navigate to Legal and Financial > Law Firms > Medical Malpractice. You should find several law firms that can serve your needs.
