we are suing and want to know how the percentage is broken down?

we are in the first stages of a lawsuit , and I was wondering of the award amount what percentage on average does the lawyer get ?
its a medical malpractice in the death of a parent .

It has to be decided with the lawyer. If you are not paying them anything and they will only get a percentage of the award, it could be anywhere from 20% to 60%.
