On "This Week With George Stephanopoulos," Senators Orrin G. Hatch, Republican of Utah, and John Kerry, Democrat of Massachusetts, seemed to agree that medical malpractice lawsuits are driving up health care costs and should be limited in some way.
Is this not part of Obamas saving. Why? Campaign contributions?
We all know the answers.
Savings first. We don't trust politicians to keep promises.
Lawyers jump states to take advantage of looser laws.

Tort reform is a STATE issue as 95% of all malpractice cases are filed in STATE courts. Federal laws have no impact on STATE courts. This is why states such as Texas and Florida have enacted tort reform on the state level.
"Where Are Tort Cases Heard?
The vast majority of tort filings occur in state courts. In 2000, more than 700,000 torts were filed in state general-jurisdiction courts, compared with only about 37,000 in federal courts, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates."

All the reliable info I have found says tort reform is ineffective in lowering health care costs. I am hesitant to advocate for limiting people's rights as victims, though in the case of malpractice I am sure there is a lot of bs. cases.

The simple fact that the Democrats will not tackle tort reform is proof that Obama''s health reform has nothing to do with reducing costs.
It is just another piece of the economy dear leader wants to take over and make socialist.
