Much of that depends on your education. Some places will hire people with no education -- they can usually earn 7cpl (cents per line) or somewhere around $ 8.00/hr. With a degree and certifications with either a CMT (Certified Medical Transcriptionist) or even RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) you can earn more to start -- at least 8-10cpl or probably around $ 12.00. Of course, that's average for the midwest region, elsewhere in the country where the cost of living is higher, I'm sure you would earn slightly more.
Of course the hours depend on your job if you're working part-time or full-time, at a company/hospital/physician's office, etc, or at home.
