Well, guess I still can trust my seventh sense:))
Bebe, AED 8.000 for a man of your education is just a joke. Wish you would have asked one week earlier, when I met dozens of doctors working in different fields.
Also when I don't know the exact salaries for medical staff, I can give you some examples:
A ward nurse (Indian) at Franco Emirien Hopital = AED 10.000
Surgeon nurse (Palestinian) at Khalifa Govt. Hospital AED 15.000
Head nurse (German) responsible for the operation theaters = USD 6.000.
I don't know about the salary which doctors I know make, but I know their houses and their rents. Their apartments are huge (none got children living with them) and are around AED 400K yearly.
Try to apply at hospitals directly. Hospitals like Franco Emirien, Al Noor, Sheikh Zayed Military Hospital, Khalifa Medical Centre, Gulf Diagnostic, Oasis and Al Tawam in Al Ain.
Health insurance paid by the employer for the whole family is mandatory in Abu Dhabi and neither chronic health conditions nor medical history should matter regarding the cover. Just the monthly premium is higher in these cases.
Considering your profession and that you will have to pay the fees for private nursery and private school (American?), from my personal view, it doesn't make sense to take an offer of AED 8.000. AED 8000 is just the minimum salary required to sponsor a family.
Try to land a better offer. Also be aware that in case you sign a limited contract, your salary will remain the same until the contract runs out. In case you check out Zayed Military Hospital and you run into the name Dr. Dux, he is a dental surgeon from Nigeria and may be able to help you out.
Take care.
