I found an article about it here: http://careermedicalassistant.net/medical-assistant-mistaken-for-nurse/

Nora
yes, they have more education

xraytech
ABSOLUTELY!

Medical professionals KNOW that assistants have far less training than nurses, and though their work is demanding and needed, it basically relieves the professional nursing staff from the more hum-drum tasks such as bathing patients and serving their meals.

One could consider them to be the equivalent of classroom assistants compared to a teacher.

I think alot of people ^^ clearly confuse MAs with nursing assistants. A true Medical Assistant is very similar to a LPN, but the LPN focus in on the art of nursing and MA's focus is a bit more technical. A nursing assistant, or nurse aid, are the ones that give the baths and do the feeding etc. Rarely can they take and record vitals, draw blood, etc as can MAs. My daughter is a LPN and her best childhood friend is a MA and the girls agree that their training and professions are similar but the LPN gets more respect and job offers.

People do think differently but many medical assistant follow into nursing.

DivineFavor
Yes, I believe some people think of nurses as more educated than medical assistants.

Nena
Yes, education is the biggest factor.

I think so, but it's irrelevant. one has to be in a career that is best for them personally. So if you do research on the career outlook, requirements, ect. and find that it fits with your lifestyle, go for it!

Don't worry about what people think. Some people will always have something to say no matter what. Just like if you are a Nurse people will want a Doctor. If you are a Doctor people will want an experienced Doctor. It never ends.

I have never paid attention to the difference honestly. Now i am aware.
