READ IT- BECAUSE THE WAY YOU LIVE IS AFFECTED BY ENGLISH LAW An appreciation by Phillip Taylor MBE and Elizabeth Taylor of Richmond Green Chambers We like this book and not just because of the original review comment about it which decorates the upper left-hand corner of the front cover, although we are rather flattered that its there! Its just that English Law has a number of attributes. Attribute No. 1 is its readability. How many legal tomes can you name that make the law (which affects us all) sound as interesting and as relevant and as pertinent as it actually is? Our answer would be some, thank goodness, but not all and mores the pity, although to be fair, the law can be extremely complex. However as an introduction, English Law is, in our view, the best introductory text available. As well as accurate and erudite, it is straightforward, logically structured and accessible and therefore ideal not only for lawyers and law students, but for professionals in other fields. English Law also works well as a reference book for the general reader. There is no in-built supposition that there are things you know about the law and the legal system already, or if not, you jolly well should. So if you think you know the difference between the magistrates courts and the county courts and/or what solicitors and barristers do and dont do, but you dont really, at least youre not sure, then this is the book for you and luckily you wont need to spend hours trawling through it to fish ...
