1. What part of the country do you live in?
2. What kind of insurance do you have (I'm not nosey, just trying to figure out the discounts)?
3. How much was your delivery? Did you have a c-section? Epidural?
4. Did anyone (doctor's staff, hospital staff) tell you how much it would be beforehand?
5. Anything you wish you had known?
Thanks! I don't mean to be too personal, but I am expecting my 4th and have experienced so many instances of healthcare "neglect" that I wonder if childbirth is one area that could do with some scrutiny. This is not meant to pertain to actual cases of malpractice, but rather the high c-section rate and standard of care in general.
Nothing But Time
1) I live in CA
2) I have Kaiser
3) My delivery was ZERO
4) Yes. I talked to member services and they said there wouldn't be a charge
5) I wish I would have known my labor was only going to be an hour and a half.
When I lived in Utah I had Blue Cross/Blue Shield and When I had my baby I had a deductible to my doctor and the hospital ($ 400 each) plus I had to pay 20% of the hospital bill. My hospital bill was $ 1,100. My doctor bill was $ 400 PLUS the hospital wasn't a normal hospital where they had normal staff, they contracted everything so I had a bill for my epidural, son's hearing, pediatrician to come visit.....EVERYTHING....It was a few thousand dollars and I have yet to pay that off.........I felt very duped. When I married my second husband he had blue cross and as soon as we had the option to iwth I made him switch to Kaiser because I NEVER want to go through that kind of dupe again!
