Is there a medical term for someone who cannot recognize or denies when their child is sick which can put them at serious risk? The parent it contently in denial about the child having a fever, asthma attack, bruises, anything, everything. When it is clear that this stuff is going on.

It would be the opposite, I guess, of Munchhausen by proxy. It would fall under neglect, I'm sure, but is there an illness or medical term?
Personally I think the person is a sociopath, but I'm thinking there has to be some other term.
Maybe Anosognosia by Proxy?

I think it is called...Amnesia.

Denial is a medical term, and a very real condition.

My ex was too fearful to admit his son was sick, he'd fight me all the way to the hospital. His young niece died of cancer you see, and it affected him greatly.

feeling numb emotionally.
feeling heartless emotionally.
lack of ability to empathize.
inability to express empathy.
unfeelingness

Apathy:
Lack of interest or concern, especially regarding matters of general importance or appeal; indifference.Lack of emotion or feeling; impassiveness.uncaring attitude, disinterested.
I have a very strong feeling that the opposite of love is not hate -- it's apathy. It's not giving a damn.

Emotionless:
When a person is born from that day on every action they take affects their personality. School, peers, work, parents, etc, can affect how you think of the world and eventually you will start to feel as if you have no emotions. It's not a dark feeling like people think, it's like you know theres no emotion there but you can still pretend. In short term, yes. People can be emotionless.

Take care always!
