I had back surgery in December to repair a severely herniated disk in my back. After being cleared to work I began work as a receptionist for a Chiropractor, a seemingly good fit. Well a few weeks into my job the Dr. began giving me adjustments for discomfort I was having. I was not in pain at this point. Well after a series of about 5 adjustments at work and over the course of 2 weeks myback health crashed hard. I was unable to work anymore and still have not been able to return after several weeks. I am in constant pain now and have difficulty doing normal activities. In an email he even stated that he thought it would be "difficult" for me to return to work. What can I do? I was fine before and able to work and loved my job. I can't even work ANY job now, what action can I take?

Malpractice. He should have NEVER done adjustments on you after that sugery! Sue the pants off him, and turn him in to the AMA. Go back to your surgeon and get re-evaluated and tell him what has happened. You will need all kinds of paperwork from him. Try to go back to work for a couple of days so you can pull together the evidence you need. Whatever you do, DO NOT QUIT your job voluntarily. If he fires you on top of this, you can include that in the lawsuit, too. Get a lawyer and good luck.

Well if he is practicing legally, he would have had you sign release forms stating they are not liable if you become injured while adjustments are completed. You can try to get a lawyer, but it may be difficult. Jury's do NOT like chirporactors.

Did you have an injury in a prior job? If so is worker's comp. You have a pre-existing condition before you started to work. If this happened in the same job, then you can sue the chiropractor.

file for disability first. they will determine if the current pain is work related, if so get a good w/comp lawyer. if it is from your previous surgery your your back where you were before you were released to go back to work.
