Eventually you probably will see 3 systems of health care in this country.

1. The government ran system in which a lot of treatments and medicines will be denied because of costs and the quality of the health care and doctors will be poor
2. A private system in this country which does not involve insurance and is a cash only system. Very few if any treatments and medicines will be denied and the quality of the health care and doctors will be the best. But only the rich can afford it.
3. Then you could see a 3rd system which operates outside the United States where US government law does not apply. Here the health care insurance companies can sell and deny insurance to whomever they want and there is little fear of malpractice lawsuits. This of course will require the person to fly to a foreign country to see their doctor and for any medical treatement. Part of the policy will probably include a medical evacuation part which will pay for medical evacuaton to that country if it becomes necessary. It is not a practical system but for those who want better care and access to better doctors than the government system offers and cannot afford the private for cash only system, this may be their only choice.

I imagine that is the left wing gets their way we will have a combination of 1 & 3. The left wing wants # 1 and those that can afford it will opt for # 3. The rest will lose good quality care.

If all of Europe (+Israel) can have affordable, high-quality health care for all of their citizens, then so can we. Some nations, like Switzerland achieve this without a government-run health care plan. Others, like Israel, have a combination between public and private plans for their citizens. Your three choices are too pessimistic.

I think you have #2 wrong - when I was young my parents used to pay doctors directly, we weren't rich.
If doctors were to bill directly to people that were Non Litigious they would save big $ $ $ and not have to wait for reimbursements (sometimes months).
#3 would be a great boon for the economies of Mexico & Canada - lots of people I know already go south for prescription drugs.
#1 I know you are right about costs rising faster than affordable means to pay for it = thanks to the Drug Industry with up to 50% profit margins. The Liabilities of Medicare and Prescription drugs are now going over 97 TRILLION DOLLARS - that alone will bankrupt the USA!
