More people die from guns, food poisoning, extreme sports, sharks, toxic shock+side effects from legal prescription medications, medical malpractice, Red Bull, FDA screw ups, bad diet, etc etc etc etc etc, than weed.
In the wake of the clear as day fact that most of our everyday life legal and allowed substances are more harmful and a much greater threat than marijuana what are the valid reasons to continue the keep it illegal.
By the way....I am not counting moral reasons...if we wanted to talk morals then morally speaking 90% of all prescription drugs would need to be made illegal as well as Seafood, pork, adultery, etc.

Rank Jeff > Umm who said it should be subsidized by medicare? It would become same as cigerettes or booze...it would actually generate tax dollars not drain it. As for the violence no as stated the black market would disappear once it was legal. As for proving its good to justify legal that is backwards....free society legality requires a good reason to ban something..not to make it legal

because once marijuana is made legal more people will begin using it, and using it more. that being said more people would die from it. bammm.

The main rational concern I have seen is the difficulty of determining when one is under the influence, for driving and such. Other than that, there is a lot of ignorance and deliberate disinformation that would have to be overcome - the poster above who thinks people die from marijuana being a prime example.

Ok people don't oppose marijuana as a medicine, they oppose marijuana for people who just want to get high of drugs. Why should tax payers subside drug heads through medicaid and drug insurance companines?
-Marijuana exist in a pill form and it is perfectly legally
-No one wants to legalize opium or cocaine, it exist in a medicinal form in opium so why have a different standard for diff drugs?
-Removes revenue from the tax stream=all legal people pay higher taxes
-While Marijuana doesn't make you become violent on quite the contraire it makes you relaxed- people involved with marijuana are highly dangerous drug dealer who shoot and kill each other and innocent bystanders when they fight
-Most gangs fight or drugs and mexican drug cartels now control the country thanks to harmless marijuana and the violence is moving north. The guns come from america, the drugs make the revenue, and the drug users come from america so naturally the cartels will come here.
-Marijuana impairs your abilities and makes you a bit slow in the head, does america really need more dumb people?
-i'm not of the opnioon that marijuana will kille evryone, but marijuana should prove how GOOD it is not how bad it is not before we legalize it.
-I think the laws a re fine, you can buy marijuana illegally and smoke it in your house, if you go on the street you get in trouble and thats the way it should be
