I work with a disabled patient who had has a urine bag. One of his caretakers put on his urine bag this morning upside down. When he went to empty his bag during the day he couldn't because it was put on upside down. Is this bad or dangerous? He couldn't seem to empty it until I put it right side up. Could his bladder have exploded? This seemed like a medical mistake to me and I was wondering if this was harmful.

eventually it could have been a problem but the entire bag would have needed to get full and then the tubing and finally the bladder which does have a bit of give to it. I have seen bladders with almost two liters of urine in it, incredibly painful from what I've been told. Seems like a very careless mistake to me, that kind of apathy drives me up a wall.
