I used to believe that medical doctors were rich!
Then, many told me "No, that's not true its expensive to become a doctor and to stay as one".
They were telling me about college & medical school debt, malpractice insurance, the large overhead, licensing and yearly credit fees, the federal & state taxes, and usual life expenses. These random people were saying "there are far from rich. Only a few are"
Compared to professional athletes, and movie stars, they make doctors look like a welfare case!
Is this true or false?
Eyes of Earth
Thats socialized medicine for ya.. its not about healthcare.. get that out of your head.. to the ones at the capstone of this pyramid.. it is about profit.. nothing more.. nothing less. Doctors (im talking about real ones that save people ALL THE FVCKING TIME!!) are the real leaders of our world.
Rasheed Mbele
It depends.
A Beverly Hills plastic surgeon makes more money than many movie stars, while a general practitioner going through rural towns in the Midwest is unlikely to live any better than a wandering handyman.

Used to be, but now due to regulation you would have to be a DR for a very long time...cost of education and insurance...its true.
Maybe if you are a specialist, but even then would take a long time to pay off.
Rasheed is right, a plastic surgeon in LA, or a allergist in Texas...youd do okay
Lois Griffin
They have high incomes.......
but a lot of them have student loan debt, medical school is expensive and time-consuming.
Rich in income more-so than net worth.
Most physicians make around 120k.....
brain surgeons and heart surgeons can make big bucs like 400k/year,
but they have bigger responsibilities that could result in life-or-death.

100% true.
While doctors do make good money, becoming one isn't cheap.
Additionally, if you own your own practice, you have to pay your bills first.
Beyond that, a lot of doctors care very much, (which is way they became doctors in the first place) and do much work for free.

True.
First of all, a lot of atheles and famous actors are union.
Secondly, most of the cost you pay for a doctor bill is for medical malpractice, in some cases nearly 60% of your bill.
The reason that won't change with the current administration is because trial lawyers, like unions, are a money base for the Democrat party. The solution would be tort reform, where a doctor couldn't be sued for trivial matters.
I have a lot of friends in medical school, and some of them have rich parents who pay their education. Otherwise, yeah, it's really expensive. Over 100K in debt easily.

It depends on where they work. I work for some at the VA and they are paid about 120 to 155K a year. They do not have to worry about malpractice because the VA cannot be sued by veterans or their families. The one I work for on the outside makes far more money, but he has select clientele that can afford him. Everything from the building he owns to the staff are top notch and the patients are the well to do of our area. He of course will do emergency treatments for the lower class, but puts them on an ambulance as soon as they are stable.

They do get high incomes, but most of that goes to paying off student loans. But the older one gets, the more likely he is going to have less debt, therefore have more disposable income. Depends, though.
Messin with Sasquatch!
Depends on your specialty. ANY profession can make them "rich or less prosperous".
"rich" is just a title people who are NOT in that profession, or lawyers, accuse them of being. Jealousy is a "mean inner beast" of society.

Oh, of course not.
Compared to Koch Roach Bros, they'r destitute, poor babies.
Greed is why they went into medicine.
Screw em.
