I was induced on March 26 for pree-clampsia. My blood pressure was 169 over 100 and I had massive amounts of protein in my urine. They broke my water at 5 00 pm and started me on pitocin at 6 00 pm I had the epidural at seven the person who was attempting to put the epidural in poked around my spine for over thirty minutes meanwhile I was having contractions hitting on the 98 scale. She called in another person to put the epidural in and he was able to pop it in within two minutes. I was only numb in my thighs and butt it made me extremely uncomfortable. The pain medication that they were giving to me through the epidural just wasn't cutting it and they ended up giving me the maxim amount of medication I have a feeling that they put the epi in the wrong spot anyways I was in labor for a total amount of 30 hours from the time of induction till birth. I was 10 cent dilated and 100% effaced for 4 hours and that was how long I pushed before they finally decided to give me a c section the whole time I was pushing I was having a contraction a minute hitting 100 on the scale and I pushed for 4 hours! The whole time I was pushing it was only my husband in the room with me the nurse only checked on me three times and the doctor on call came in once and my husband told her " look my wife is in two much pain she has been pushing for four hours would you please give her a c section" the doctor replied with " well if she cannot handle it maybe she should not of gotten pregnant" the nurse over heard the doctor on call say that and she called my ob and talked to him about a c section and he agreed that it would be best. I had the c section and still felt intense pressure while getting the c section. The whole time I was in labor my blood pressure was taken 3 times after I had my son I got this excruciating headache and the nurse brought it up to me that it is most likely a spinal headache and I had to get a blood patch and that was horrible the guy who did my blood patch said that I shouldn't of let the lady who did my epidural poke around in my spine like that because the outside of my spine on the skin had about 15 puncture marks. I was just wondering if any of this could be considered to be malpractice? And if any one else had labor like this? It was so bad that I no longer want anymore children. Please I would like to hear your labor stories also do you think I was a big baby about the whole ordeal? By the way im using my moble phone to post this don't mind if some of the words are jumbled thanks!
My blood pressure was taken a total of three times the whole time I was in labor.

No my labor was not like that at all!!! I pushed for an hour and the nurse stayed with me and my husband the whole time, but once the babies hair was starting to show a whole team of nursed and the doc came flying in and finished, which that part took all of 15 minz, including my episiotomy. I loved my labor id do it again in a heart beat which i am cuz im currently 18 weeks preg! The only part i really hated is how after the baby was born the nurse kept coming in the room every hour and waking me an the baby up and trying to make me breastfeed, that was annoying!!!
Im so sorry for your experience thats horrible. I dont think you could consider it malpractice tho, just rude inconsiderate stupid doctors who think they'r god's gift!

Wow! Well I was induced for pre-c as well. I was in labor for 10 hrs. Then they gave me an epidural. After another 6 hours they decided to give me a c section. My experience was awful... but doesn't sound as awful as yours! They weren't rude to me like it seems they were to you. I don't think you are being a baby. I believe you have good grounds to complain! So sorry.

Wow! I'm so sorry! No, I myself didn't have an experience like that but mine was horrible too. I ended up having a blood transfusion.
The doc that made the comment that if you can't handle it then you shouldn't have gotten pregnant!? If that were me that is when my hubby would have grabbed him by the collar and taken him outside to have a little "chat" Seriously?? Oh heck no he would have been smacked and would still be dealing with the complaints which would be made formally as well. Write a letter and complain. As for a mal-practice suite. Its really hard, it definitely sounds like they had an idiot doing your epidural but I would start with a letter and go from there. You can always talk to a lawyer and see if you have a case. Most times a large cooperation or entity will pay out so as to avoid a nasty PR nightmare. However, make sure you are doing it for the right reasons.
Congrats on having your baby! Best of luck and blessings:)

I can't (and won't) answer about the legalities stuff, but I can sort of relate. I was in labor for 26 hours, 4 of which were hard pushing. My epidural went in easy, even though my blood was thin. However, the anesthesiologist didn't plug the machine in because it was a battery operated one (which is fine) and went home (it's a small town). Well, the first hour I was in heaven...but then the pain came back and when I'd push my little button nothing was happening. The machine had been beeping but the nurses said that was normal. When I finally told them the bolus wasn't working, they were like "It'll take 10 minutes or so to take effect." and she had me hit it again...finally a half hour later they called the anesthesiologist back in...the battery was dead in the machine--that's why it was beeping. All the nurses would have had to do was plug it in! But by this time my labor was too far along to put me back in no-pain-land. My daughter had a *lovely* 14" head and chest and she got a little hung up on my pelvic bone (and had the bruise to prove it!). She had crowned but wasn't going any further...the doctor cut me 3 times and I still tore. They were discussing emergency C-section when something shifted and out she came. Then the doctor's like "Ok, quit pushing while I get her nose clean." and I'm thinking "NOW you want me to quit pushing?!" My doctor had tried the suction-cup thingy 3 times but it kept coming off. Then while they were working on the baby I could feel my afterbirth pulling/slipping out and I'm like "Um, could somebody help over here?" They just said they'd be there in a sec. When Doc got back to me she goes, "Oh, you are all ready to go, aren't you?"
So while I liked my anesthesiologist (he was really nice) and my doctor, I only liked one of the nurses I had. The nurse I had when I was first admitted told me during a contraction "Now just relax and calm down! I've had two kids, it's not THAT bad." I've NEVER wanted to hit somebody so much in my life before or since!!
