Check with your local bar association. A good malpractice attorney will evaluate your case and let you know if it has merit. Be wary of ambulance chasers. Also most med-mal attorneys bill on contingency, If they lose you don't pay. However, many firms will charge you for costs and they can be very high, ie filing fees, medical records, depositions, experts, etc. You pay those whether you win or lose. Many malpractice attorneys charge anywhere from 30-50 % of what you are awarded. Then you pay costs. What is left is yours. Often the attorney sees more money than you do.

Try doing a search for medical malpractice lawyers on targetlaw. Great lawyer search engine. What you need to do is look over a dozen or so sites and find those lawyers that have experience in going after hospitals. Look on their testimony pages etc. and many have brag sheets that go into certain cases they have one. These are probably the attorneys you want to consider.
