Tips: Why are Dem's against TORT reform?

When unreasonable medical malpractice suits represent huge premium costs?

Blue
I'm not against, but tell me how does that get someone like me, a childhood cancer survivor, access to health care.

Because as it stands tort reform will not do that.

TheMom
I think the President said that he isn't against it, but that his experts say it is just a drop in the bucket to contain health care costs.

But the GOP tout it as their grandest plan.

How do you define a reasonable malpractice case?

Do you want the government to say that a child's life is worth $ X, and no more?

Lloyd Washington
i dont know. tort reform is actually a libral idea since it is regulation of a buisness.

Boss H
Actually they don't. It has already been estimated that it would benefit your insurance company by about 2% of the health care bills which translates to saving you about a dime on your premium every month.

People being unable to pay their health care bills accounts for far more cost to the health care provider, which is passed onto you and your insurance company in the form of higher costs.

funny how you people that claim to be conservative now want businesses and the government deciding how much a person's life is worth.... then you cry about death panels... HA! conservative indeed.

they are for these type of lawsuits and lawyers. the 911 lawyers are estimated to get half of the 4 billion dollars in lawsuits. they sue for 5 million dollars for a cup of spilled coffee and get more than half. i have always wondered why dems want the lawyers to get more than the plaintiff. they must be in the pockets of the lawyers. why else wouold they let this continue. 1/4 of all medical prodedures are not necessary but, dr's do them to keep from getting sued.

A major portion of their money comes from lawyers and they don't want to upset them.

Bill
because the Dem's are bought and paid for by the lawyers.

thumbs down?? you mean there are people out there that disagree with this./ better come out from under that rock.

Why are Republicans against holding doctors accountable for malpractice?

Progressives=Liberal stench
True. If medical malpractice insurance was affordable for doctors fees should decrease. It is one solution among many.
