i had my son 8 months ago and as a result of medical negligence i ended up with a rectovaginal fistula and have to have reconstructive surgery in december i was wondering what to expect with the surgery and if anyone has ever pursued a negligence case against an OB dr and how it turned out
i had a vaginal delivery with a vacuum asisst due to low fetal heartbeat

u have not mentioned whether u had a normal delivery or caesaean section
it may happen following a surgery
u may get a compensation for this
all the best

as an x-ray tech, we do the primary exam to diagnose the rectovaginal fistula, I've seen a fair amount of these, I'm not sure if its just at my particular hospital or if they are not so rare anymore, i was originally told that they are rare, but perhaps that's only the natural ones, not the post natal ones. if your absolutely sure that this fistula was created out of negligence then perhaps you have a case, but after a traumatic birth things like this do occur. good luck with the case, i don't know of any exteme complications from the surgury. Although i'm sure they will put you on a specific diet untill the colon has fully healed.

sorry to hear you have complications from your delivery is your baby OK?its interesting because the surgery although uncomfortable will be such a relief and that area of your body will heal amazingly fast eating well before during and after adequate protein whole grains and raw fruits and veggies resting when you are tired and not doing any heavy lifting focus on getting well and being bonded to your infant now you can see why a c-section has its place have faith have courage
